Upgraded “Resurs-P“ satellite has been developed on the basis of the first “Resurs-DK1“ satellite.
As compared to its ancestor, “Resurs-P“ has improved performance characteristics owing to the following onboard equipment:

Rersurs-P
  • optoelectronic equipment providing better resolution;
  • hyper-spectral equipment for the EO data acquisition;
  • wide-swath multispectral system providing imaging of the selected territory with low and moderate resolutions in a broad band.

“Resurs-P“ surpasses Resurs-DK1 satellite in the following parameters:

  • width of the swath;
  • width of the spectral range and number of narrow spectral bands;
  • imaging rate.

Moreover, accuracy of coordinates determination on the taken images has been improved. The possibility of satellite functioning onto the near-circular sun-synchronous orbit is provided as well. Satellite lifetime has been increased up to 5 years.

Satellite navigation support is based on the use of GLONASS and GPS satellite navigators signals.


The Purpose of “Resurs-P“

Resurs-P space system is intended for the Earth remote sensing and data downloading to the ground station of planning, receiving, processing and images distribution for a wide scope of applications used in the interests of the following customers:

  • the Russian Ministry of Industry, Ministry for Emergency Situations, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fish Industry, Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia and other customers;
  • foreign customers.

“Resurs-P“ space system is also used in the purpose of international cooperation progress in the spheres of environmental protection and other EO actual tasks solution.
